A goodbye is a sum of all that meant anything. It's all there in that one word, "Goodbye": all you did together with that someone, the pain and the joy, the adventures and boredoms: all of it is reflected in your eyes when you say it, the word you'll remember anyone by who leaves you, the word everyone you leave remembers you by. There is a certain something missing if you don't get to say it. It is as if you didn't get a chance to mean something, something a little more than if you don't ever have that last thing. It is perhaps the saddest thing in the world, not to be able to say, "Goodbye" — not to be able to tie a knot in time, and hold a memory there.

Today i didn't say goodbye twice. But it was a sad day so i didn't want to hold a memory there. It was a sad day. So maybe there shouldn't be Goodbye's on a sad day.

when she didnt say good bye she made me feel exactly as you said.that i did not have the chnce to mean anything and i hate this feelings...the unsettled, the very uncertainties......the absent of her truly revealed who i was..no where or no one near the woman i thought i was....now she is left and in my past......perhaps i should say good bye to my persent achin self, emit and ponderfree.

These words have so much meaning. They paralell my past that hasn't yet. My ex-husband is diagnosed the same and is evidence of such.......One day my past will be my own.............

our past is always yet to come, it seems. he, her ex, continues to live in his. but we are denied ours to remember!when will he say "goodbye"?
