I think most of us would never know that the end is coming until it was actually upon us (if it ever does come at all). If something like an Old Testament prophet were to be born in this present day, wailing in the streets of New York City, "Repent, for the end is near! Repent, for the end is near!", not only would people not believe him, I think that in those particular streets, no one would even notice him. Par for the course, nothing at all out of the ordinary. Until, of course, the end actually did come, and then we'd all be screwed — we were, after all, fairly warned, and we didn't listen. The Bible does tell us how to tell the difference between true and false prophets: what a true prophet tells us is going to happen does happen: a true prophecy implies a true prophet. Makes sense, I guess. Still, though, a lot of us wear some thick armor around such subjects; I think even if a real prophet were to appear, so very few of us would ever recognize him... or, perhaps, even want to.

also, as far as i was aware a prophet is not someone who predicts, but is simply someone who speaks the words of god.
Amos was a prophet however who warned those who did not repent, but again, only using the words of god. a prophet only speaks if god has no other way of communicating.

As for todays poem,Stand,it was a tad pesimistic..(though i both understand and agree)Living in the world we do,people need more than ever something to believe in.some chose God,who are we to oppose.But i do think even the Cristians would have problems acknowledging a prophet if ever seeing one today,etics,moral and religion seems to mean less to people than before,yet they are in need of it like never before...Strange.The most important words of todays poem are those at the very end,and i quote : "I think even if a real prophet were to appear, so very few of us would ever recognize him... or, perhaps, EVEN WANT TO." Mark Stand`s words, OR,PERHAPS, EVEN WANT TO.Think bout that one a bit yall...

It is funny how one can become so naive,to not have a trumph card hidden up ones sleeve. Why it is not manitory i do not understand,what do people do when in need of a helping hand?

I wish i could say i have one..but sadly i have not. At this present moment all i know is that there are good and bad forces in the universe. If you want to call the good God i will not argue,but due to my indecisiveness i have not yet gor a grasp on this whole religion think.(though the ideology behind budism is appealing) First things first i say,first i need to find out who I am,then i can start seeking the answerds to the essential questions here in life..
